Bilton Social Refurbishes Snooker Tables

After years of avoiding the middle table due to it's oversized pockets, little to no spring back from the cushions and overall an unfair advantage over that of a standard table, Bilton Social decided to refurbish the snooker table completely. Calling in the help of experts Briggs Snooker & Pool Table Services who have been trading in this for 50 years they decided that refurbishing the middle table which was very much part of the furniture would be the more appropriate option over replacing the table entirely.

The picture (left) shows that the table has been stripped right back to include new, match mahogany cushions with rosewood finish. These cushions now match the other two tables in the club.

The club has invested £2,500 in getting all the tables refurbished to a high standard. The specification of the tables are now on par with those in the leagues.

Below you can see the various stages of the refurbishment.

The next stage was to replace the cloth on the table, as you can see in the picture (left top) the cloth used is the best quality Hainsworth match which is made locally in Leeds. The cloth is an important factor as a good quality cloth will give a truer roll and a fast play, therefore this allows players to focus on accuracy over power.

The final stage was to fit the pockets, which have now been reduced in size as you can see in the picture (left bottom). This is due to the cushions being fitted to the correct size and specification.

With the middle table complete as you can see in the pictures (above) all that was left was to stretch the cloth on the other two tables. The other two tables were fitted with high quality 6811 gold tournament cloth last year, therefore just needed stretching which keeps the table maintained. The two outer tables where unpinned, stretched, then repinned as you can see in the images (below).

Having the best specification possible for the snooker tables is a huge importance for Bilton Social as the members in the club will be practising play on a similar specification to tables in the league. Therefore when it comes to playing in the league the players can use their practised accuracy that they have gained using their newly refurbished tables.
